The IGBAL Foundation was registered as a non-governmental organization in Azerbaijan in April 1999.  It now has 52 members working to protect local craftsman against the accelerated importation of mass produced goods.  The focus of IGBAL is the research of local problems with specialists and economists.  IGBAL sponsors meetings, seminars, and conferences in order to promote discussion and explore solutions to social problems.  The foundation recently carried out an agricultural development project with funding from the World Bank  The foundation also sponsored a project for the preservation of decorative art in Azerbaijan.  IGBAL has established relations with USPAS and the World Bank.
