This museum is housed in the original residence of the composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov–renowned for his synthesis of Eastern and Western traditions in music–and includes a small theater where one may see early films relating to Hajibeyov's operas, such as "Archin Mal Alan," composed in 1945. Hajibeyov is also remembered for having founded Azerbaijan's Music Academy, a school for professional musicians.
