Azerbaijan Psychologists Association (APA) was established in September 1997. On March 19, 1999 APA was officially registered by Ministry of Justice as a non-governmental organization, non-for-profit professional association.

Our goal is: Development of Psychological Science in Azerbaijan

Main objectives

Any professional Azerbaijani psychologist owning diploma of psychological department may become a member of APA and use all membership privileges.

APA consists of 5 divisions:

Past projects:

"Returning"
(February - June 1998) - social-psychological rehabilitation of the lonely old people. Funded by ISAR/Azerbaijan.

"Astronavigation"
(February - July 1999) - development, publishing and free distribution of an album of developing coloring pictures for children. Exhibition of the best children's works with drawings of "Astronavigation" album was organized at Baku Museum Center on June 25, 1999. The project was realized at financial and organizational support of the Azercell Telecom BM company.

"Development of Academic Resource Center"
(March - October 1999) - development of resource center for students of social sciences departments in Azerbaijan. The Center includes library, computer and other equipment, access to Internet. ARC continues its work at the present moment. Project funded by Canada Cooperation Fund and Canadian Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

Present projects:

�Synaesthetica�
(December 1999 � present time) � development of creative capacities and aesthetic awareness of 18 children aged from 8 to 11. Within the framework of the project several trips, educational courses, meetings, exhibitions, competitions, etc. will be organized.

"Social-psychological research for traumatic effects of forced migration in women and children"
(April - September 2000). Project funded by IOM through MRC at HAYAT International, Azerbaijan.

�Development of Network of Crisis Centers for Women and Children Victims of Violence�
(June 2000 � June 2001) � Crisis Centers in 7 regions of Azerbaijan providing beneficiaries with free psychological, legal (in cooperation with Center for Legal and Economic Education) and medical (in cooperation with Azerbaijan Medical Association) help and advise. Centers will include hot-line, direct connection with shelter organization. Project also includes wide research and informational campaign.

�Program of seminars and training in psychology and psychotherapy�
Long-term program of seminars and training conducted by foreign experts in various fields and streams of psychology and psychotherapy.
