Mission: Background: Ghevond Alishan is a non-governmental, non-profit organization which was founded in 1991. It's membership is 25 people (primarily prominent scientists, linguists, artists, qualified professors and teachers). Ghevond Alishan has sub-committees on both Women's issues (membership-16 women), and Youth issues (membership-6).

The association has branch offices in Moscow, Kiev, and Paris.

Recognizing the important role of the association, the Government of Armenia declared it tax free by a special decision.

In December 1996 the Council created The Center for Development of Civil Society.
The Center's main goal is to promote ideas about democracy, civil society, pluralism,
and diversity (cultural, religious, linguistic, and political).


GEVOND ALISHAN ASSOCIATION IS LOOKING FORWARD TO ESTABLISHING CONTACTS AND TO COLLABORATING BOTH WITH LOCAL AND WITH INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS.
