"Ecostan News" is an English language monthly electronic bulletin which carries reports on the environment and environmental movements in Karakalpakstan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Published since September 1993 and edited by Eric Sievers, "Ecostan News" is a joint publication of the Law and Environment Eurasia Partnership, based in West-on, Massachusetts, and Green Salvation, based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Sievers has worked in Central Asia since 1991 and currently serves as Tashkent Resident Manager for American Legal Consortium.

Although primarily devoted to environmental issues, "Ecostan News" carries reports on a variety of topics. The last three issues have included stories on:

• Rising and falling water levels in the Aidar valley by Ecolog, an environmental organization based in Tashkent;

• Recent political events in Turkmenbash (formerly called Krasnovodsk), Turkmenistan;

• Appeals for assistance from the Biology Department of Tashkent University and the Institute of Zoology in Almaty, which is conducting a study of Caspian seals;

• News of a Sustainable Development project in the Djizak region of Uzbekistan that may provide a model for other regions in Central Asia.
