"Law Lists" is a list of Listservs--namely, of 400 law-related electronic mailing lists, discussion groups, electronic journals, newsletters or news digests. "Law Lists" was compiled (and is periodically updated) by Lyonette Louis-Jacques, Foreign and International Law Librarian and Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago Law School. Each annotation includes the list address, directions on how to subscribe, and a very brief--usually less than a sentence--description of the Listserv. Listservs listed in "Law Lists" include:
- ADA-LAW: discussion of the Americans with Disabilities Act and other disability-related legislation world-wide
- AGLAW-L: Agriculture Law list
- BANKRLAW: discussion of legal and financial aspects of bankruptcy, domestic or foreign
- CJUST-L: Criminal Justice Discussion list
- CONTRACTS: Contract Law
- DISC-EVIDENCE: Evidence Law
- DISPUTE-RES: Dispute Resolution list for teachers and practitioners
- ENVIROLAW: list for environmental law students around the world
- H-LAW: Legal History list, including U.S. constitutional history
- HUMANRIGHTS-L: International Human Rights Law list
- RELIGIONLAW: Religion and the Law for lawyers who practice in the area
- RISKNET: Discussion of Risk and Insurance Issues
Although the file is too probably too large (112 Kilobytes) and therefore too costly to e-mail to people in the NIS (who often must pay for incoming messages), it could be used by Americans to help NIS partners find useful resources.
The new world wide web page offers the list in English or Spanish, in alphabetical form or with full text including an introduction, a link to related Usenet newgroups, and now boasts a searchable form to find lists and newsgroups
