Environmental Cooperation Bulletin
The Environmental Cooperation Bulletin is a monthly e-mail bulletin of environmental activities in the NIS and Eastern Europe produced by Kompass Resources International in Washington, DC. The Bulletin is compiled from a variety of sources including the
media, interviews with project managers, and specialized publications such as "Procurement Opportunities," published by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The Bulletin comes in two parts: "Calendar" and "News Briefs." The "Calendar" includes news of workshops and conferences in the region and information about people from the NIS and Eastern Europe who will be in the U.S. for internships and seminars. "Ne
ws Briefs" includes information about environmental projects and new resources, organized by region and country. Recent issues included news about:
- a seminar on "Public Environmental Education in the Federal Nature Reserves and National Parks of Russia" organized by the Russian Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Socio-Ecological Union
- a new network of Environmental Management Training Centers with offices in Latvia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Poland
- a request by the Botanic Garden at Irkutsk State University for help with its projects, including a Gene Bank of Siberian Plants
- a notice that VIOLA, an environmental NGO in Bryansk, Russia, is looking for partners to help with its projects in environmental education, drinking water problems, and research and advocacy programs on small rivers and forests.
