About CCSI
- This section is an introduction to CCSI and its work. A definite "must see" for the new visitor. It gives CCSI's mission statement, and its Board of Advisors and Board of Directors, as well as shortcuts to the archived publications on site, an introduction to CCSI's Listserv "CivilSoc," and the Russian section. Soon it will also have a link to a "Scrapbook" where recent adventures and projects of CCSI's staff will be detailed. Just in the last few months, CCSI staff has been to Vladivostok, Poland and Ukraine.
What's New at the Site
- The "New Files at the Site" link currently leads to this tour, but in the future, it will be a typical "New Files" center. It will have direct links to the files which have been added into any section of the Web site.
Announcements
- The Announcements section is an important resource worth visiting on a regular basis. This section has all time-sensitive documents such as conferences, requests for grant proposals, jobs, internships and more. The items in this section become outdated quickly, so we have gathered them into one area. To avoid redundancy, these files are not added to the "New Files at this Site." For your reference, the old files whose timeliness have expired, are moved to "Old Announcements." These files may be of use to someone wanting to check who has been offering positions or presenting conferences in an area of interest to them. The old Announcements are accessible through a link at the bottom of the Annoucements page.
Special Resources
- This contains links to sections of interest to specific groups. The Pen Pals section has become increasingly popular with students and teachers at the grade school and high school level. It lists contact information and links to dozens of Pen Pal exchange programs--not limited only to the young. The category Educational Advising is primarily of interest to students of the NIS who wish to study in North America or Europe. These links will provide valuable information on Advising Centers, Web sites on colleges and financial aid as well as specific focus such as business, medicine, and more. The final category is Job Search which is designed to provide a guide to the Internet resources available for a person seeking to work in Eastern Europe or the former Soviet Union.
Research and Opinion on Civil Society
- This new section is dedicated to current research being done on the topic of Civil Society as well as to
providing a forum for discussion about matters relating to Civil Society and its development. We are currently compiling a number of articles and suggested books to add to this section.
