The new "International Organizations Active in the NIS" is a replacement for the "US-based Organizations Active in the NIS" section. The new section reflects a change in CCSI's focus from US programs to programs from around the world which operate in the states of the former Soviet Union, and in Central and Eastern Europe as well. The focus of this section is on organizations from outside the territory of the Newly Independent States (NIS) of the former Soviet Union and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) which work with partners, or sponsor their own programs in any of 15 categories ranging from agriculture to youth-oriented organizations within that region. The international third sector programs listed can be large organizations sponsoring numerous projects all over the NIS, or can be a small organization working with a partner in one city. The focus is not on size, but on genuine projects which produce results.

The US organizations that previously resided under the "US-based Organizations" section have now been blended with organizations from other North American, Nordic, European and Asian nations which support projects in the NIS and CEE. Currently, non-US based organizations are designated by the flag of the nation in which they are based. We are still adding organizations to the site, but suggestions are always welcomed through our "Organization Guestbook" or directly via E-mail to CCSI.
