CCSI IS THE BEST
CCSI responds: Thank you!
Dear Friends, Can you please assist me in a search for contact details (e-mail address or phone number) of the Geneva based NGO 'Liberty Road' that works in the FSU.
Many thanks, Andrew Clark.

Although we didn't have the information ourselves, CCSI posted this message on our listserv, CivilSoc, and received immediate response from our listserv subscribers.
The "What's New" section is fabulous!
CCSI responds:
Thank you. It is always nice to hear what sections our visitors find useful. As you can see, we add to the site on a daily basis, and place links to the new items from the "What's New" section. But remember the "What's New" section is just a sampling of the most recent additions. There is an entire web site to explore! The majority of the CCSI Web site's content is contained in the four sections depicted in boxes at the center of the home page. "NIS-based Organizations" is the largest, followed by the newly expanded "International Organizations Active in the NIS," and the two resource sections: "Electronic Resources" and "Print Resources." And don't forget the "Announcements" section with news on information like conferences, grant opportunities, jobs and internships.
I am looking for information on the juvenile justice system(s) in Eastern Europe and the NIS. I would also like to find a good Russian-language tutorial online.
CCSI responds:
Requests for statistics or information on the courts or prison systems in the former Soviet Union are common ones. We have been unable to find information on the Web about these topics, but for those who are interested, I would suggest contacting the Moscow Center for Prison Reform. They have the most complete information available on the prison system in Russia, and may have the information you are seeking. Their Web site is in Russian, but they can correspond via e-mail in English
I spent the last year working in Armenia with a "Marketing Assistance Project" for the Agricultural sector. I found your web site to be of tremendous value and am passing it on to my Armenian counterparts and colleagues. Thank you.
CCSI responds:
Wonderful! It's nice to hear that we have been an important resource for you in your work, and we are very happy to hear that this is being passed along by word of mouth.
We have visited Magnitogorsk, Russia, in 1993 and 1995. We are currently working to bring a string ensemble from Magnitogorsk to the USA in the fall of 97. We have formed a non-profit corporation called "Music without Borders." Our goal is to establish an exchange of musicians, singers, composers, and teachers of music between the US and Russia. We are looking for sites for performances in late October or early November focusing on NY, NJ, and PA. We are also engaged in fundraising. If you'd like more information or could help, please contact us. Thank you. 7/23/97
I am a young business woman from Connecticut, USA who may be travelling to Esenyurt, Turkey in October (for business). I thought it would be fun if I could find someone in that area to correspond to before I go -- for travel tips, points of interest, etc.
VERY NICE PAGE. ANY NEWS ABOUT BELARUS?
CCSI responds:
The CCSI site does not keep news and information on the individual countries of the NIS, but we certainly keep links to the sites that do! You'll find such sites under Electronic Resources--Region Specific. Skip down to the Links section. They news and informational sites are categorized by the country or region they focus on. Belarus currently has over half a dozen sites dedicated to news and information on Belarus. Two Belarus related listservs are available under the Listservs section at the top of the page.
I have an MA in Russian & Eastern European Studies and am looking for work in my field, either as a program associate or publications editor. This page was very helpful in providing relevant links! Thank you.
CCSI responds:
Glad to hear it. Job hunters: Be sure to check out the Job Resources section of the CCSI Web site.
I see that in your excellent 'announcements' section you also provide information on jobs, congresses, etc in Ukraine. I'm however interested in a similar announcements section (or calender of events list) exclusively on Ukraine. Can anybody help me on that?
CCSI responds:
Information and news on individual nations of the former Soviet Union can be found under the links area of the Electronic Resources--Region Specific section of the Web site. There are a number of very active sites on Ukraine, however I am not aware of any site that keeps a list of purely Ukrainian job and congress announcements. Your best bet for the most up-to-date Ukrainian announcements may not necessarily be a Web site. Try subscribing to some of the listservs available under the listserv area on the same Electronic Resources--Region Specific page. Info-Ukes actually runs a number of Ukrainian-focused mailing lists. Visit the Info-Ukes List site for archives. Follow the "Announcement of List" links for information on how to subscribe.
