I am intrigued by the people and culture of Sakartvelo - the former Georgian SSR. Please, if anyone can help me, I am interested in making contacts there via e-mail.
I was born in Kiev in 1935. I have been living in the US since 51. I am attempting to establish contact with somebody in Kiev and find out all I can about the present conditions in the country of my birth. I think that I will be spending a lot of time on this WEB site.

Quite interesting for research--I'm also interested for my students for internships and future jobs after graduation in Russia and the CIS & NIS. Good luck with construction of the civil society!

Thanks! For those who missed it above, Volunteer and Job Opportunities show up periodically under our Announcements Page. The Announcement Page archives messages from CCSI's CivilSoc listserv and other sources of time-sensitive information (that is information with deadlines) such as job and volunteer announcments, grant opportunities, exchange programs and more. (Our new site upgrade added a "Job Search Resources" under the "Special Resources" section of the homepage. Great for recent graduates, or people with significant experience in Eurasia.)
As a recent graduate from UCSD, having spent most of my time studying eastern european political economy, I found the site quite informative.
Dutchman, engineer in physics, computer scientist, philosopher, interested in the region from the Baltic States & St. Petersburg to Armenia.
Hopefully, Holt will be happy to learn that I am at long last surfing the Web! For some reason, AOL's browser wasn't working for me. As of today I'm using IGC and their Netscape brought me straight to your Website. I'm delighted!
Next step is to get the KOI8 font, or whatever is necessary to read your cyrillic info on my Mac. It never came off with aol, but now I'm on igc where I trust they'll help me with this. Do you ever supply it?
We had a successful year at Biointensive for Russia, including bringing 4 participants from Russia and 1 from Kazakhstan to Biointensive workshops with John Jeavons in Willits. The next step is to help plan a series of workshops "over there," including one at the Ministry of Agriculture's main ag college.
Onward, schastlivo,

We have added a short explanation of Cyrillic fonts and links to sites where you can learn how to use them to read Russian on the Internet. A brief description of Biointensive for Russia is available from the archives of CCSI's newsletter Civil Society... East and West.
