GuideStar is a searchable database of more than 700,000 nonprofit organizations in the United States. Every year NGOs in the U.S. must file a form with the federal government which includes annual income and expense statements and brief descriptions of their program activities. Portions of this data for every organization are available at GuideStar. In some cases this is supplemented by other information provided by the organization.
