Founded in 1983, HelpAge International has become a network of over 50 not-for-profit organisations around the world. Members include national organisations, community-based groups and regional networks. We help members to support each other and share skills, experience and expertise. We are currently supporting the development of a network of NGOs working with older people in East and Central Europe. We have broad representation of network members, from pensioners associations to organisations providing services for older people. The network is currently concentrating upon a regional training programme, looking at the issues of advocacy, organisational development, volunteering and fundraising for organisations working with older people. We are interested in making contact with age care organisations in East and Central Europe with a view to exchanging information and experience. We do not however, have the capacity to provide grants to organisations.

Publications include: 'Older people in East and Central Europe', 'Adding Health to Years', 'Learning to Listen' amongst others.

HelpAge International is planning a conference in Slovenia in Spring 1998 for age care organizations in preparation for the 1999 UN Year of Older Persons.
