The Lake Peipsi Project (LPP) is a regional, non-profit, non-governmental organization registered in Tartu, Estonia in 1994. The Lake Peipsi Project was founded in the Fall of 1993 as an international environmental research project.Peipsi is the largest inner waterbody of Estonia and one of major lakes of European Russia, and the lake encompasses two-thirds of the Russian/Estonian border. To protect and enhance this unique environment, mutual management strategies for the control of environmental quality and sustainable development need to be implemented with the agreement of both Russian and Estonian governments and other interested parties.
