The following message was received by CCSI in April 1998We are a national youth organization (unites over 900 young people from 18 to 35 year old). NAUNYC has local structures in the bigger Bulgarian towns - Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Bourgas, Rousse, Blagoevgrad, Stara Zagora, Pazardjik, Veliko Turnovo, Sliven, Lovech, Pleven, Iambol, Shumen, Gabrovo, etc. NAUNYC was between the initiators and creators of the National Youth Council of Bulgaria which was set up on November 29th, 1997 and we have a representative in the Executive Board of this Council.
Main issues addressed by the organisation:
Organising educational seminars, lectures, discussions, simulation games and national competitions in the fields of global policy of integration, human rights, intercultural understanding etc. Participation in international youth exchange programmes.
Main activities of the organisation:
Simulation of the activities of the Bulgarian National Assembly (October 1997 - February 1998); National Youth Essay Competition on Human Rights in Bulgaria in connection with the 50th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (January - April 1998); National youth training courses and seminars in the field of human rights in seven university centres (April - May 1998); Creation of the UN Youth Cafe; At the end of November we shall organize our first international conference "Balkan International Model of UN" (BIMUN) - The problems of the Human rights in Kosovo, with the support of the Mission of the UN in Bulgaria, the Association of the UN for Bulgaria, Open Society Foundation - Sofia, etc.
We are partners of the UN Development Programme and the Association of the UN for Bulgaria.
We would be extremely grateful if you can provide us some more detailed information about your organization and your activities.
We do hope that we will be able to contribute to the enhancement and the further development of the intercultural communication and collaboration between the countries of the world.
