WORLD BANK STUDY RANKS RUSSIA'S TOP 20 BUSINESS SCHOOLS
The Russian magazine Den'gi (Money) for November 5, 1997, published a ranking of Russia's top 20 business schools. The ranking is based on a survey commissioned by the World Bank and carried out by the Institute for Strategic Analysis and Development.
More than 1,000 business school graduates and employers in eight Russian cities were interviewed in the course of the study. The methodology was similar to that used by U.S. News and World Report and Business Week magazines in their rankings of U.S. Business Schools. Schools were rated on a scale of 1 to 100 in 14 categories.
The No. 1 spot overall went to the Division of Second Higher Education of the Moscow State Financial Academy. LETI in St. Petersburg was No. 2. No. 3 was the American Institute of Business and Economics in Moscow, and No. 4 the MBA program run jointly by the Academy of National Economy and California State University, Hayward.
The Finance Academy received the top rating of 100 in the categories "authority of diploma" and "mentions by employers in a positive context." LETI got the top rating for "number of employers ranking the school as best."
The American Institute of Business and Economics received a 100- point rating in four categories, "average increase in pay after graduation," "number of alumni recommending the school to friends," "quality of placement service," and "influence of knowledge learned on career change."
