CCSI Receives 2nd Eurasia Foundation Award
At the end of December, the Eurasia Foundation announced an award of $30,000 to Center for Civil Society International for the project “Improvement of Internet-Based Resources on Behalf of Civil Society in the NIS.” This is the second grant CCSI has received from the foundation and it will help us expand our on-line electronic clearinghouse services in important ways.
Specifically, the grant will help CCSI to:
- update and upload to our Web site all the organizational data contained in The Post-
Soviet Handbook: A Guide to Grassroots
Organizations and Internet Resources in the
NIS;
- develop a form such that organizations visiting the site can add their own projects, contact
information, etc.;
- substantially expand the material on our Web site in Russian and other languages of the NIS, to
correspond with the rapidly growing number of institutions and individuals with Web access in the NIS;
- develop a component of our Web site to be known as “Research and Opinion on Civil Society”;
- enlarge substantially the information available on the Internet about third sector organizations and
projects in Central Asia;
- assist other NGOs with projects in the NIS to develop their own multilingual Web sites;
- continue operation of our popular electronic mailing list, CivilSoc.
Readers are encouraged to visit our Web site, which now has upwards of 3,000 files, and sign on to
CivilSoc. To learn more about both, go to:
