The Know How Fund is Britain's program of bilateral technical assistance to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The Fund's largest program is in Russia, where it spent nearly 26 million pounds sterling (about US$40 million) in 1995. The Know How Fund "concentrates its efforts on areas in which Britain has particular expertise...financial services, privatisation of enterprises, public administration, management and good government, and civil society."
The current focus of KHF's programs is "Partnerships for Good Government." Within Russia, KHF supports project partnerships between British and Russian organizations in pursuit of one or more of five priority objectives:
KHF has a three-page document explaining the procedures for submitting project proposals. (An outline of any proposal, not more than four pages long, is requested first.) To obtain the document, or for more information, contact any British Embassy or the Know How Fund at their address above.
