Saratov's Center for Assistance of Civic Initiatives
The charitable NGO Center for Assistance to Civic Initiatives (CACI) describes itself as a nonprofit institution
in the Saratov region, “based on the free will of citizens.” In other words, it’s a voluntary organization whose
mission is “to assist the development and recognition of civic initiatives for the establishment and consolidation
of democratic society in Russia.”
The goals of CACI are:
- to foster the development of third sector NGOs and civic initiative groups promoting “civil concordance”
and “an easy transition” from a society based on “the state interest” to one based on the interests of
multiple groups, private parties, and individuals;
- to promote connections and cooperation between governmental and commercial organizations and third
sector organizations;
- to facilitate cooperation among diverse organizations and groups of the third sector in our region, in
Russia, and with international NGOs.
The Center for Assistance to Civil Initiatives helps NGOs...
- to prepare an official registration with the city administration, to open an account in a bank, and to get
information on other NGOs of Saratov and Russia;
- to establish contacts with other NGOs in Russia; and
- to obtain consultation and help on juridical and financial matters, on planning of “mass cultural actions,”
and on the publication of information and special editions.
