Osnovnye Ekonomicheskie Ponyatiya: Struktura Prepodavaniya

(Moscow: Aspect Press, 1995, 105 pages)
Translated into Russian by Moscow’s International Center for Economic and Business Education under an agreement with New York-based Economics America (aka National Council on Economic Education), Osnovnye was first published in English in 1977 as Master Curriculum Guide in Economics—A Framework for Teaching the Basic Concepts. Prof. Phillip Sanders of Indiana University (Bloomington) supervised the writing of Framework and it has been used widely in this country to train secondary school teachers for introducing basic concepts of economics into the secondary school classroom. In clear and non-technical prose, Îñíîâíûå explains important economic concepts such as trade-offs and opportunity cost, markets and prices, aggregate supply and demand, and comparative advantage. It is an excellent resource, now available in Russian thanks to support from both the Eurasia Foundation and the Soros Foundation.

The International Center for Economic and Business Education, Economics America’s Russian partner in this project, trains teachers in the field of economics education, translates resources such as Îñíîâíûå, and is creating a network of regional economics education centers throughout Russia. Its coordinates are:
