Moldova's Social Innovations Center

Registered in April 1996, Moldova’s Social Innovations Center has as its main goal "to create a strong, local non-governmental environment for public administration seminars and training; to provide a coordinating capability for NGO development; and to continue with and strengthen information sharing in Moldova."

SIC’s activities include establishing local resource and training centers outside of Chisinau; creating forums for information sharing between NGOs, government representatives and the people of Moldova; "East-East" administrative and institutional exchanges; publishing and sharing information among Moldova’s citizens, NGOs and donor organizations; and providing model projects for replication throughout Moldova.

An important project of SIC is the NGO Club. This is a voluntary union of more than 25 different groups, intended to support the consolidation of the NGO community and help establish a “third sector” in Moldova. The club’s areas of activity include: charity and children; national arts; ecology; social and economic processes in society; science and education; medicine; cultural and human international exchanges; and others. A formal name of the club is to be established.
