"Russkii Invalid" or "Disabled in Russia"

The English edition of this paper comes out occasionally. The issue dated 3 December 1993 was only the second instance, but it contained a variety of interesting pieces from previous issues of "Russkii Invalid", a monthly.

According to the editors, the newspaper "Russkii Invalid" was founded in the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars by Pavel P. Pesarovius. It became an institution respected throughout Russia, and over the course of a hundred years--until closed by the Bolshe viks--not only published about disability issues but also developed a large program of donations and other support for disabled veterans, orphans, schools, and almshouses.
