Generally speaking, no homes or public spaces in the former Soviet Union were constructed with the needs of the disabled in mind. This book, a translation of Englishman Don Kaston's "Make Your Home Comfortable--If Age or Disability Require It" (Souvenir Press. Ltd., 1985), is a collection of simple and inexpensive techniques for making a home more "user friendly" for the elderly or disabled person. Clear and simple illustrations explain how to construct every device in the book, and none of the devices are hightech or require unavailable components. The 187 pp. paperback was translated by Joanne Thompson and the editor of the Russian edition was Galina A. Dubnikova.
