Citizen Exchange Council (CEC) is expanding its ArtsLink program with the nations of Eastern Europe and the NIS. This fall, 28 artists and arts managers from the region came to the U.S. for 5-week residencies; approximately 30 American artists will travel to the region in 1995.

U.S. nonprofit organizations wishing to host an ArtsLink Fellow--either an artist or arts manager from the region--in the fall of 1995 or spring of 1996, have until May 15, 1995, to apply. Applicant organizations should be prepared to design residencies that will provide the Fellow with hands-on experience that is relevant to his or her professional goals. Residencies should also incorporate the visiting professional into the host organization's activities and offer interaction with other artists or organizations in the local community.

Organizations selected to host an ArtsLink Fellow will receive from $3,500 to $5,000 to support the residency. It is expected that matching funds or in-kind support will be required to cover full residency costs.

CEC also sponsors ArtsLink Collaborative Projects for U.S. artists (individuals or small groups) wishing to undertake collaborations with colleagues in Eastern Europe or the NIS. Applications for these grants are due no later than February 15, 1995. Stipends for these grants will generally range between $1,500 and $3,500, with a cap of $6,000.

This program is a partnership between CEC, the National Endowment for the Arts, Soros Foundations/Soros Centers for the Arts, and the Trust for Mutual Understanding. For more information, contact CEC at:
