CONTACT was established in Moscow in December 1993 by the Russian Academy of Education and TASIC. Its objectives are to:

• inform teachers and students in the NIS regarding the possibilities of the new information technologies;

• develop instructional materials;

• provide teachers with inservice training in global networking;

• search for matches between Russian and American teachers for project development.

CONTACT is developing a database of information on schools, teachers, telecommunications projects, educational centers, etc. They are seeking contacts with American educators who have experience in development of telecommunications training courses for teachers.
