Educational Advising Centers in the NIS

* * *

Updated versions of this page are now being kept under the title CCSI's list of Educational Advising Centers in the NIS in the Educational Advising section of the Website.

NIS students who wish to study in the U.S. will want to know about the Educational Advising Centers operated throughout the NIS by IREX (International Research and Exchanges Board), ACTR/ACCELS (American Council of Teachers of Russian) and the Soros Foundation.

The process of getting accepted to a U.S. university and receiving financial aid is complex and can take up to fifteen months. More than forty advising centers have been established in the NIS to provide a number of functions, including: advising NIS students about study and research opportunities in the U.S.; providing information on financial aid; administering GRE, GMAT, TOEFL and other tests often necessary for admittance; and helping to recruit and select students for U.S.-based programs.
