NGO Coordinating Office in Kiev

In June 1993 COUNTERPART, an international development organization based in Washington, DC, opened a Service Center in Kiev, as part of a 3-year project funded by USAID, to serve a clearinghouse and coordinating function for USAID missions and local and international NGOs. It expects to open additional regional offices in Minsk and Chisinau soon.

The office offers training programs in project design and implementation, hosts monthly meetings for USAID grantees, promotes partnerships between U.S. and Ukrainian NGOs, and helps coordinate USAID-provided disaster relief in the region. The office has also begun a database of more than 100 Ukrainian NGOs. In the coming year the Kiev office will initiate a seed grant program for Ukrainian NGOs.
