With a $500,000 grant from USAID/World Learning, World Vision (WV) has launched a two year project to improve the quality of nursing care and to institutionalize nursing education reforms in Russia. In cooperation with the School of Nursing at Azusa Pacific University, WV and six nursing schools in Russia will conduct a 3-week workshop and additional co-teaching sessions to develop curriculum modules for nursing education. The modules will be collected and published as a Russian-language nursing textbook, to be available in late 1994. WV's NIS partners include the Russian Federation Institute of Medicine Nursing Faculty, the Moscow Institute of Medicine Nursing School and regional nursing schools in St. Petersburg, Omsk, Ekaterinburg, and Chita. Another major focus of the project will be to support and facilitate the development of the Moscow Nurses Association, which it is hoped will form the core of a future nation-wide Russian Nurses Association.
