Join more than 40 Americans who have already served as Volunteers for Latvia, sponsored by the American Latvian Association (ALA). The ALA seeks experienced Americans to work for periods of two months to a full year. Past placements have included copy editing at an English language newspaper, assisting the Latvian Parliament to develop its library, consulting in the field of copyright law, clinical genetics--as well as teaching English as a foreign language. The ALA publishes an excellent quarterly newsletter that includes listings of volunteer requests from Latvia and news about the work of other organizations providing technical and material assistance.
