ASSIST (American Slavic Student Internship Service) organizes job placements, for 1-3 months or longer, in a wide range of fields in the NIS: education, business, publishing, sports, etc. The program is designed for, but not limited to, American students specializing in Russian language or area studies. Participants pay a fee and receive good job placements, housing, transportation, and professional in- country support. ASSIST has placed over 50 people since it started operations in the summer of 1992, the majority in Moscow or St. Petersburg. For further information, contact ASSIST's executive director:
