Young Leader

the XXI Century”

We have the pleasure of
inviting you to the 6-th Annual International Youth Conference " The Young
Leaders of the 21-st century ". The conference will take place at a resort
not far from Ekaterinburg, Russia. It will start on 14 of August 2000 and last
until 19 of August 2000. (We will inform you about the changes of the dates
beforehand)
General aims of the
conference:
To stimulate social
activities of the students to help them to become real professional leaders
(with high ethics qualities) in different fields; To encourage their interest to
global issues, international and domestic affairs and in their own opportunities
for their future career.
During the conference we are
going to discuss Leadership in Politics, Business and Economics,
Non-Governmental Organizations, Media and Local Government. In addition, we are
going to cover problems of contemporary societies and issues of particular
interest for young people: Human Rights, Youth Identity, Career Building,
Business Ethics, Corruption and Environmental Protection.
Information:
This conference is designed
for 50 delegates from the ages of 17 to 26 from different countries. Russian
participants of the conference are selected during the competition among high
school and University students. Delegates of the previous conferences are active
members of the UNESCO Club or of other NGK’s of the area. They successfully
work in various fields. Among them are representatives of major multinational
business companies, volunteers and employees of international non-profit
organizations. They believe that through participation in this international
conference, communication with peers,
and with guest speakers have played an important role in the success of
delegates.
The official languages of
the conference are English and Russian.
Is
Ekaterinburg worth visiting?
For
sure! Yekaterinburg (former Sverdlovsk) is a middle spot of Trans-Siberian
railway; the place where the last Russian tzar was assassinated and where the
first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin studied and worked. Besides the Urals is
a place, where East meets West.(You will see the symbolic border between Europe
and Asia.) You may travel by train or by air to
Moscow. We'll meet you there and provide a nice trip by train. It will take 1,5
days and the price of the ticket is about USD 20 one-way.
To fly from Moscow to Ekaterinburg (2 hours) is about USD 133
one-way. Besides there's a
direct Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt 2 days a week (round trip ticket's costs
about USD
1,000).
The
climate of the Urals is absolutely unpredictable but quite acceptable. Our
exclusive forecast: +10 - +30C. And do not forget both your umbrella and your
bathing suit!
Can
I take my friend with me?
Surely,
you may take even several friends - the more the better and the more the
merrier!

Innovations (UFSI), Sverdlovsk Region Trade Union of the University Students (SVAPOS)

The schedule of the
conference:
It is very busy: invited
reporters, round-table talks, seminars, discussions, role play games, talk-shows
with actual leaders, informal meetings, psychological exercises and
entertainment.
Financial assistance:
The
organizing committee will provide
participants with hotel and food.
Participants will have to
pay for their travel expenses. We can also extend your invitation so that you
will be able to visit Moscow, Saint Petersburg and others places of interest in
Russia.
The participation fee is USD
75 per person.
