We are in the process of selecting participants to the Women's Human Rights Advocacy Training Project. The training program, which starts in July-August 1998, will only be for the participants from the following countries:

The Women's Human Rights Advocacy Training is designed to enable a core group of women in each of the participating countries to:

The program consists of three one-week training sessions over a period of two years. Participants will plan and implement at least one organizational strategy to promote or defend women's human rights in their countries of origin. Between training sessions, the training team will offer follow-up advice, feedback and technical assistance as needed in the implementation of these strategies.

WLD International will provide the training drawing on its staff and network of international experts in the field of women's human rights. The curriculum will be based on the Women's Human Rights Step by Step manual, with the key thematic areas covering:

Due to limited space, only 5 participants per country will be able to participate in the first training. The attached application form will help us determine who can meet the qualifications for participation. We request that you complete the application form in English.

Selected participants will receive funds from the Soros national foundation in their country for travel costs including airfare/train fare/bus, local transportation, visa costs where necessary, and a $150 per diem. Hotel accommodations and meals will be provided by the Network Women's Program. A modest stipend for work following the first training will be jointly provided by the Soros national foundations and the Network Women's Program.
