Transparency International, a global non-profit organisation devoted to fighting corruption, is giving this award to recognise the efforts of individuals and organizations that have made tangible contributions to promoting the cause of transparency and good governance. TI is now launching a general call for nominations for consideration by the members of the Integrity Awards Committee. It is expected that the first group of awards recipients will be honoured at TI's next Annual General Meeting to be held next September in Ottawa, Canada. The newly instituted yearly awards will seek to reward those who have undertaken innovative or courageous actions that have a significant impact on existing levels of corruption in a given country or region, and are likely to attract interest or lead to emulation in other parts of the world.Nominations have to be submitted before 30 May 2000.
