Teaching Opportunities in Vladivostok for U.S. Faculty

 

The Far Eastern State University (FESU) provides teaching positions for visiting U.S. faculty members and practical specialists in 2000/2001 academic year (three-nine months between Sept. 2000 and May 2001).

Teaching language is English. All students speak English fluently (TOEFL score 550 and higher).Russian language skills are NOT required for invited American faculties - FESU provides all necessary interpreting and transportation support outside classes.

The applicants may choose among the following undergraduate courses:

Fall 2000: BMGT230 Business statistics, IFSM438 Project Management, BMGT360 Human Resource Management

Spring 2001: ECON203 Principles of Economics II, ECON 430 Money and Banking, BMGT446 International Finance

Each course takes 3h/week during one semester. Interested faculties may apply for teaching any 1-6 of them.

Since 1991, FESU and UMUC run a joint dual diploma undergraduate program in Business and Management. The courses in question are used to be taught by UMUC visiting faculties on-site in Vladivostok. Since 1999, UMUC trusts FESU Russian-American Faculty of International Economic Relations and Management (RAF) to employ faculties for teaching the courses.

RAF is the most prestigious school of the oldest and largest university in the Russian Far East. The University campus is situated downtown Vladivostok (pop. about 850,000), the main Pacific sea gate of Russia, educational and scientific capital of the region, an exiting place to see the new Russia. It is very close to China, Korea, and Japan.

TERMS: FESU covers all the round-trip travel expenses and provides free daily transportation services in Vladivostok. Monthly salary is $1.000 for teaching three courses (prices in Vladivostok stay about 3-10 times lower than in U.S.). Free accommodation: 2 or 3 room apartments outside campus or one room downtown dormatory apartments (international sector). Personal office at the University. Computer, printer, and Internet access are available at the personal office.

REQUIREMENTS: Teaching or practical experience in the course-related areas, university degree.
