Project Coordinator for Ukraine Mental Health Project

We are seeking a Project Coordinator for a national survey of mental health to be conducted in Ukraine as part of the World Mental Health 2000 project. The Kiev International Institute of Sociology and the Ukraine Psychiatric Association will be responsible for the field study (n=5000) and clinical reinterviews (n=500). NIH funding is for five years.

The Project Coordinator must have an advanced degree or 2+ years of postdoctoral training in a mental health or social science discipline either in Europe or North America, good quantitative and interpersonal skills, and be able to travel between the US and Ukraine. The candidate must also be fluent in both English and either Russian or Ukrainian. Salary is dependent on experience.

This position provides an exciting opportunity to become part of an international research program. The survey is being conducted in 20 countries and is being coordinated by Dr. Ronald Kessler at Harvard and Bedirhan Ustun at the World Health Organization. Other consultants for the study include US and European researchers who are conversant in focus group methodology, cross-cultural research issues, collaboration with former Soviet Union countries, psychiatric epidemiology, and traumatic stress.

Please send a cover letter and C.V. via email [email protected] or [email protected] or fax 631-632-9433.
