REAP International, is preparing for a busy and productive summer in Siberia. The effort will involve up to 60 Americans in several activities. The projects assist Irkutsk and Buryatia to improve rural conditions; promote environmental and civic activism for young people; and strengthen village schools to be effective service providers for their communities.Deadlines for signing up range from May 26 to June 9. Programs are:
2nd International Green Walk in Buryatia, which includes camping, working on environmental or civic projects, discussing with residents local empowerment and yes, walking from the Mongolian border to Lake Baikal. Dates of the Walk are July 22 to August 19.
One to three month internships for college students or adults. June and July departures.
Help with Youth Activity Centers-- either by working in Buryatia or through donations of needed equipment, supplies or funds to sponsor them. July 1 departures.
Short programs (3-4 weeks) living and working with Russian families. July 1 departures.
