CEEMAN and RABE invite you to join them in one of the most important events for management development in Central and Eastern Europe - their joint international conference on "Assessing Management Training Needs in CEE Countries", that is going to take place in Moscow, Russia, on June 3-5, 1999. The conference will disseminate the findings and conclusions of a recent research study, conducted by CEEMAN, encompassing more than 70 companies and about 1000 managers from five countries of our region, namely, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Russia and Slovenia. The study, in itself, marks one of the first attempts to assess management training needs in CEE countries at the achieved level of transition from the demand side. The picture of the needs assessment will be further completed by speakers from other countries, as they respond to the findings of the research study and their relevance in the context of their own countries. Distinguished speakers from the corporate world and academia are invited to bring their perspectives on the link between the overall company strategy and the human resources development strategy, clearly articulating what are the needs of the companies for developing their human resources at the achieved level of tran- sition and how to best meet these needs. This conference presents a unique opportunity for managers of local and international companies that operate in Central and Eastern Europe and the management training providers in the Region to meet and exchange views with regards to training needs of enterprise managers, the challenges that enterprises are facing and how management training providers are prepared to help enterprises meet these challenges. The conference will also articulate some recommendations intended for policy makers, international donor organizations and non- governmental institutions, in a genuine effort to raise their awareness with regards to these issues and to hopefully provide some useful assistance in their decision making process and the channeling of financial resources. Last but not least, the conference will serve as a meeting place for developing new professional relationships, exchange of information and learning from best practices. About 120-150 participants are expected to attend this event. The Conference is targeting mainly: * Enterprise managers * Providers of management training services (especially deans and directors of business schools) * Policy makers * International donors The program of the Conference (a few speakers, whose participation is not confirmed, are not listed) is as follows: Preliminary Program CEEMAN/RABE Joint International Conference Assessing Management Training Needs in CEE Countries Moscow, Russia June 3-5, 1999 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday, June 3 --------------------------------------------------------------------- 14:00 - 8:00 Registration 19:00 - 21:00 Welcome Reception: Welcome word by Danica Purg, President of CEEMAN and Leonid Evenko, President of RABE Dr. Andrei Sharonov, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation --------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday, June 4 --------------------------------------------------------------------- 9:00 - 9:15 Opening and a general overview of the Conference: Danica Purg, President of CEEMAN Business and Academia Partnership: Leonid Evenko, Chairman of the Conference and President of RABE 9:15 - 10:30 Plenary Session I Management Training Needs in CEE Countries at the Achieved Level of Transition Presentation of the research-based cross-country report: Milenko Gudic, Head of the Research Center at IEDC, Slovenia Future Research - Focus and Methodologies, Gabriel Matauan, Executive Director, FIMAN, Romania Discussion 10:30 - 11:00 Coffee break 11:00 - 13:30 Plenary Session II Country View Research Findings by Country (Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia): - Country specificities and country managerial gap in view of EU accession - Lessons and recommendations: Andreas Dernbach, Consultant at KPMG, Bulgaria, Dorota Dobija, Professor at Leon Kozminski Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management, Poland; Nenad Filipovic, Deputy Director of IEDC, Slovenia; Sergei Filonovich, Dean, Business School of Higher School of Economics, Russia; Gabriel Matauan, Executive Director of FIMAN, Romania; Feedback from the Industry: Beata Janczur, HR Director, Nationale Nederlanden, Poland Discussion (Moderator: Danica Purg, President of CEEMAN) 13:00 - 14:00 Lunch Break 14:00 - 15:30 Plenary Session III Business Strategies and Training Needs in Central and Eastern Europe - Main Business Challenges: Hans Buss, Vice President of Unilever, Hungary - Business Strategies and HR Function: Julian Barling, HRM Professor and head of the PhD program at the Queens University, Canada - How are the Training Providers Prepared to Meet Industry Challenges: Wiktor Askanas, Dean and CEO of IMC, Hungary; Sergei Mordovin, Rector, IMISP, Russia Moderator: Nenad Filipovic, Deputy Director of IEDC, Slovenia 15:30 - 16:00 Coffee Break 16:00 - 17:30 Plenary Session IV New Managerial Profiles and Training Needs - Emerging Managerial Profiles: Velimir Srica, Professor at University of Economics in Zagreb and Program Director of DELFIN (Developing Effective Leadership for Innovation), Croatia - Current and Expected Managerial Capabilities - Manager - A New Profession? - Critical Training Needs Moderator: Sergei Sementsov, Executive Director, National Training Foundation, Russia 19:00 Ballet performance (title to be announced soon) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturday, June 5 -------------------------------------------------------------------- 9:00 - 10:30 Plenary Session V How Organizations of the Future Develop Managerial Talents - Personal Development - Learning Organizations - Developing Internal Managerial and Leadership Capacity - Systems Mechanisms and Measures Dr. Peter Kraljic, Managing Director of Mckinsey&Co., France 10:30 - 11:00 Coffee Break 11:00 - 12:30 Plenary Session VI Enabling environment - Focus on the Young Generations of Managers: Mojca Petric, Head of the Representative Office of BAWAG Bank, Slovenia - New Technologies and Learning Tools: Ger Jonkergouw, Director of Jonkergouw Creations Inc., The Netherlands - Large Scale Projects - The Eltsin Initiative in Management Development: Dr. Andrei Sharonov, Deputy Minsiter of Economy of the Russian Federation 12:30 - 13:00 Closing Remarks: CEEMAN and ETF representatives 13:00 Lunch 15:00 Guided tour of the City of MoscowContact CEEMAN at http://www.ceeman.org/, or ETF at http://www.etf.eu.int/
