** Applicants must be American citizens fluent in Russian and/or Armenian with work and living experience in NISProject Harmony, an innovative, not-for-profit professional exchange and training organization with offices in the US, Russia, Ukraine and Georgia, currently seeks an experienced, mature professional to fill the position of Program Director for the Internet School Linkage Program for Armenia (ISLP), a program pending funding from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Dept. of State. This position is based in Yerevan, Armenia with extensive travel throughout Armenia. Fluency in Russian and/or Armenian is essential. This is one of several Internet development programs administered by Project Harmony in the NIS, including the Internet Access and Training Program in Russia, the Samara Regional Initiative Internet Program and the Internet Community Development Program for the Caucasus.
About the Internet School Linkage Program
The Project Harmony � ECA Internet School Linkage Program for Armenia (ISLP) is a new initiative based on the Internet School Linkage Program established by Project Harmony in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus in 1996 (see http://school-sector.relarn.ru). This new ISLP program for Armenia will establish Internet Computer Centers at 50 schools across Armenia and provide extensive training for educators so that this resource can be used to enhance civic education through online collaborative projects with Armenian and American partner schools. A three-phased exchange program between Armenian and American educators will further develop the skills of Armenian teachers to leverage online technology for building civic education components into the curriculum at their schools. ISLP participants will carry out joint educational projects and develop innovative cross-cultural curricula focused on civic education and democratic participation. Working closely with partner schools, Project Harmony will provide the educational leadership, technical equipment and support to ensure that use of the Internet is integrated into the academic program of participating schools in a way that strengthens democracy and supports civil society and cultural understanding throughout Armenia.

- Overall management of program design, implementation, reporting and evaluation
- Establish and maintain relationships with working partners
- Oversee development of program resources and training
- Overall staff and financial management in the NIS
- Regular communication with the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy
- Regular communication with PH management and program advisors
- Travel throughout the region for program implementation
- Program and organizational promotion and publicity
- Research opportunities for new/continuing program development
About Project Harmony
- Fluency in written and oral English, Russian and/or Armenia
- Experience living, working and studying in NIS
- Ability to work independently
- Familiarity with Internet infrastructure and telecommunications issues in the NIS
- Proven leadership and ability to manage a multi-national staff
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
- Flexibility and grace under the demands of changing tasks
- Excellent organizational skills
- Cultural sensitivity and willingness to adjust to demanding work schedule
- Must be US citizen
Project Harmony has developed and facilitated professional training and exchange programs between the US and NIS since 1985. The 68-person staff consists of 36 Russian, Ukrainian and Georgian nationals, 30 of whom are fluent English speakers, and 32 American staff members, 22 of whom are fluent in Russian, Ukrainian and/or Georgian. Project Harmony's community-oriented approach to programming has allowed it to develop an active network of contacts in both the NIS and the United States. Project Harmony currently maintains 17 offices in four countries, with additional offices opening this year.
Project Harmony programs include participants from diverse occupational backgrounds, including students, teachers, police officers, psychologists, social workers, doctors, attorneys, ecologists, business people, public administrators, technology specialists, NGO leaders, musicians and dancers. To date, over 5,500 American and 5,500 NIS participants have taken part in Project Harmony programs. Project Harmony has a community volunteer network of over 3,000 individuals throughout the United States and abroad. Project Harmony partnerships exist in more than 50 NIS communities.
