Media Development Loan Fund (MDLF), a U.S non-profit organization, seeks an experienced news media manager to serve in Moscow as its Program Director for the CIS.MDLF assists independent news organizations in developing democracies by providing them with low-interest loans, coupled with management training and technical assistance. MDLF supports independent news organizations world-wide practicing responsible, non-partisan, fact-based journalism and contributing to the development of open and democratic societies.
In Russia and Ukraine, MDLF operates through the Media Viability Fund, a joint initiative with the Eurasia Foundation that combines training and consulting on media management issues with MDLF's loan program. The Program Director will also serve as Co-Director of the Media Viability Fund, which is located in Moscow.
The Program Director will be responsible for managing MDLF's loan program in the CIS, primarily in Russia, including client relations, coordination of loan processing and due diligence, and in-country logistics. S/he will also be responsible for providing to loan clients strategic advice and troubleshooting on media management issues. As Co-Director of the Media Viability Fund, s/he will be jointly responsible for strategic development of the program and fundraising.
Qualifications: Experienced news media manager. Familiarity with Russian news media. Strong business, management, strategic development, problem-solving and communication skills. Fluent in Russian and English. Willingness to travel regularly to Russian regions. Proven commitment to independent media. Commitment to working as a member of a team.
