Description: Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, a NYC-based education and social change organization that works to develop a more active role for the Jewish community in local struggles for justice, is seeking a Community Organizer. The primary responsibility of this organizer will be to coordinate JFREJ's campaign for Quality Public Schools, a multi-year effort to increase Jewish involvement in multi-racial coalitions for educational justice. The organizer will also be responsible for other outreach and membership activities that expand the community of Jews involved in social justice work. As one of a three-person staff for a grassroots organization, the Community Organizer will participate in all aspects of JFREJ's work.

Education: Bachelor (BA, BS, etc.)
Languages: English
Additional Qualifications: College Degree or equivalent work experience; 2 years experience in community organizing, advocacy, education, or social justice work; knowledge of and familiarity with the New York City Schools a plus; willingness to attend evening and weekend meetings; good facilitation, writing, and communication skills; experience working in Jewish organization a plus; spanish or Russian speaker a plus.
