An award-winning educational and development charity, the Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR) informs the international debate on conflict and supports the independent media in regions in transition. Through this work, IWPR contributes to the resolution of conflict and to the strengthening of civil society, democracy and the rule of law.Based in London IWPR supports media development through collaborative journalistic projects and other forms of practical assistance. Founded in 1991, IWPR has pioneered cross-community editorial projects, linking contributors from different regions and diverse communities, and building collaborative networks among regional and international media. IWPR produces several electronic reporting and monitoring services, all available via the Web or e-mail (available in up to five languages), and operates a range of training, local publication series and other development programmes. IWPR is seeking to fill the following positions:
Development Officer-London. IWPR seeks a development officer to maintain relationships with funders and produce grant applications, project reports and other institutional communications. The successful candidate will have superb communications and writing skills, the ability to work in a collaborative manner across departments, and strong experience in grant-writing and other aspects of NGO development. Expertise in media, media development or IWPR's focus regions is a strong benefit. The position reports to the Executive Director. Salary commensurate with experience.
Project Officer-London. IWPR seeks a project officer to co-ordinate programmes activities, provide logistical and communications support, compile evaluations and reports, and assist in day-to-day operations of project activities. The successful candidate will have exceptional initiative, excellent organisational, writing and communications skills, and a strong appreciation of the media and regional issues of IWPR. Experience in media/media training activities is a strong benefit. The position reports to the Director of Programmes. Salary commensurate with experience.
Webmaster. IWPR seeks casual web support to assist in the design and maintenance of IWPR's award-winning website. This includes developing special pages and features, and collaborating with editors on on-going updating and revision of the site. Strong technical abilities, a creative eye and total reliability are essential. Compensation commensurate with experience.
