Baikal Dialogue of Cultures
Irkutsk, Russia, 5-8 August, 1999Informal youth organizations of Siberia offer to meet on the unique Lake Baikal to discuss ways of world development in the new millenium.
Baikal Dialogue of Cultures is a global dialogue on the management of world changes with respect to six levels of concerns:
1. Youth Organizations Cooperation
A summit of representatives from various youth organizations is being planned in order to investigate new partners and exchange information concerning all spheres of life.2. Ethnic Cultures: Conservation and Development
The need to conserve original ethnic minorities will be addressed, particularly in regard to their further development.3. Youth International Tourism Perspectives
Analysis of youth international tourism perspectives in order to promote ecological tourism at Lake Baikal, including volunteer camps and new ecological routes in Siberia.4. Informational Society of the 21st Century and Equal Dialogue of Cultures
One considers that at the time of phones, faxes and virtual reality the quality of communication has been improved, however, this is not quite true because the improvement is in technology, but not in the social sphere.5. International Policy Principles in the 21st Century and Youth Organizations' Role
Being on the threshold of the new millenium we are compelled to analyze achievements and losses of mankind in all spheres of activity and to consider which directions of development we should carry on into the new century.6. Global Problems and Sustainable Development
The threat of irreversible changes in natural features of the environment and the destruction of civilization demand urgent measures and practical activity. To take part in the Forum return the registration form preferably no later than 5 July, 1999 to:
