Position Location: Moscow, Russia.About IREX: For over 40 years, IREX, a non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, DC, has offered opportunities in field research and professional training exchanges between the United States and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltic region, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Russia, Ukraine, Mongolia and China. Committed to international education and partnerships in the broadest sense, IREX's efforts encompass academic research, professional training, services to the business community, institution building, information and telecommunications access, technical assistance and policy programs throughout the region.
About IREX in Russia: In the ten years that IREX has operated on the ground in Russia, thousands of young professionals, business entrepreneurs, representatives of the media, educational reformers, graduate students, changemakers, as well as leading NGOs, government and private institutions have taken part in exchanges, internships, joint projects, courses, conferences, grants programs and Internet training offered by IREX. These activities enable growth and new perspectives for individuals and key social institutions.
IREX/RF has four offices, in Moscow and in three other regions. The nearly 60 staff are citizens of Russia and the United States. IREX projects are funded by the US government (US Agency for International Development, US Department of State, National Endowment for the Humanities), private foundations, corporations and international institutions.
IREX fosters excellence in services to internal and external customers and encourages all staff to continuously improve the systems and processes that are essential to our work.
Summaryof Position:
IREX seeks a full-time Senior Program Officer for Academic Programs starting immediately. The position requires a native English speaker with U.S. citizenship. The SPO will oversee the implementation of IREX's portfolio of research and exchange programs across the Russian Federation. Position will coordinate activities among IREX's 12 field representative offices as well as supervise program implementation in the RF as co-coordinator of the AER division in Moscow.

- financial reporting
- management of IREX's regional network
Candidates must be well organized, able to work independently, skilled at handling multiple tasks, able to adhere to deadlines, and willing to travel extensively within Russia. Supervisory experience preferred. Other specific qualifications should include at a minimum:

- a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
- an advanced command of the Russian language
- professional and/or living experience in Russia
- experience in international academic programming
- demonstrated organizational skills and information and communication management
- excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- knowledge of Russian political, economic and social issues
- knowledge of computers and relevant software (MS Office 97, Eudora, on-the-road telecommunications experience a plus)
