Freedom House, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, seeks two qualified professionals with publications development experience to assist NGOs in Southeastern Europe and Ukraine through its American Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program. AVID volunteers will receive transportation and basic living expenses. Candidates must have a minimum of two years professional work experience. Local language skills helpful but not required.Southeastern Europe
Volunteer with publications development and editing experience needed to develop and publish a newsletter focusing on Stability Pact issues in Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, and Serbia-Montenegro. This newsletter will link NGO, government, media, academic, and donor organizations in each of these countries. Volunteer will be based in Skopje, Macedonia but may travel to other countries listed.
Ukraine
Volunteer with publications development and public relations experience needed to assist 10-12 Ukrainian NGOs. Volunteer will help NGOs turn their existing newsletters into effective public relations tools and will provide other public relations advice. Position is based in Kyiv but may involve travel to other areas of Ukraine as well.
Dates of assignment: February-March.
