The Economics Education and Research Consortium (http://www.eerc.ru), administered by the Eurasia Foundation, is extending its Transition Economics Research Network (currently operative in Russia) to other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. We need a dynamic person to launch and manage network activities outside Russia. The CIS Coordinator reports to EERC-Russia Program Director.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The CIS Coordinator will assume overall responsibility for extending TERN research and training activities outside Russia. This includes launching an annual economics research grant competition, integrated with a summer school and a series of research workshops and methodological seminars. In 2000, TERN extension will be limited to three or four countries (including several Central Asian countries, and possibly Ukraine and/or a country from the South Caucasus). The extension would involve:
Qualifications
- compiling and maintaining a comprehensive mailing list of individual scholars and higher education and research institutions in the region.
- issuing and widely disseminating a Request for Proposals.
- establishing (under the supervision of the Program Director) thorough proposal review procedures, coordinating the review process.
- organization of and selection of participants for an intensive summer-school training session in July 2000.
- coordinating an ongoing series of research workshops and methodological seminars, modeled on those of the existing network.
Proven track record of CIS-based program management, preferably research management, and familiarity with the economies of the NIS is essential. MA degree in Economics or related field from an internationally recognized program is highly desirable. Published research with reference to Transition economies a plus. Fluency in written and spoken English and Russian is required. The individual selected for this position must give evidence of being a problem solver, a leader, and a team player attentive to detail, but efficient at the same time. This position requires extensive travel.

The Economics Education and Research Consortium (http://www.eerc.ru) announces a job opening for an Outreach Coordinator position. The OC reports to the EERC-Russia Program Director. The position consists in a complex of actions, aimed at disseminating information about EERC's core activities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Qualifications
- Designs and implements program outreach to Russian and non-Russian institutions in the field of economic research and education.
- Maintains contacts with key program advisors and partner institutions.
- Organizes and coordinates public relations events and policy roundtables (invitations, materials, logistics).
- Manages the Program's mailing list.
- Manages dissemination of all Program publications via mail, electronic mail, and Internet.
- Manages subscriptions to the Program's Working Paper Series.
- Prepares an annual report and other PR documents.
Excellent communication skills and 3-5 years public relations experience required. The successful applicant is fluent in written and spoken English and Russian (native English is ideal), is computer literate, and is able to give concrete examples of Public Relations work experience. Skill in drafting formal and informal business communications in English and in Russian is a must. An MBA or Economics MA degree is preferred. The individual selected for this position must be hard working, very attentive to detail, but efficient at the same time. In peak periods working extra hours may be required. Some travel may be necessary.
