The Internet and other electronic resources are rapidly changing the methods of education and research throughout the world, and this is especially true in economics. An exploding volume of interactive learning tools, as well as resources for accessing economics literature and data, is now available on the worldwide web and CD ROM.
The potential of these electronic resources is especially promising for countries making the transition from Soviet-style central planning to a market-based economy, since they offer a way to rapidly develop a firm basis for modern economics education and research.
The Economics Education and Research Consortium (EERC) is organizing a conference on "The Internet and Economics Education and Research" to provide an opportunity for Ukrainian economists-university faculty, policymakers, researchers, and private-sector practitioners-from approximately twenty cities to interact with economists and educators from abroad.
