The Committee to Protect Journalists' (CPJ) Europe program is seeking a part-time (20 hours per week) research associate to assist its program coordinator. The job entails researching, documenting and protesting cases of attacks against journalists and media outlets in Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and in the former Soviet republics, and involves some administrative duties. Candidates should be familiar with regional media and politics, and possess excellent interviewing, writing and reporting skills. Experience working in the region, particularly with media or on human rights issues, is preferable. Fluency in Russian is required. Knowledge of other regional languages a plus.The position is located in our New York office. Job applicants must either be U.S. citizens or possess green cards. Also, CPJ does not cover moving expenses to New York.
