Counterpart International, a Washington-based international non-profit, non-governmental organization, works with local partners to develop grassroots-level programs addressing pressing development issues related to the environment, institutional capacity-building, enterprise development, and humanitarian assistance.Counterpart is seeking a qualified, team-oriented individual, who shares the organization's philosophy and commitment to excellence, to fill a Program Officer Position in Counterpart's Environment and Natural Resources Division in Washington, DC. The Program Officer's primary responsibility will be to provide program management and administrative support to Counterpart's environmental programs in Ukraine, the Central Asian Republics, and potentially other countries of the former Soviet Union. PO responsibilities include: support to field staff, program development and design, writing and preparing program and other reports, monitoring program budgets, conducting program outreach, and contributing to the development of new activities. Requirements for the position include:
- Developing and preparing proposals for submission to public and private donors;
- Networking for the purpose of information sharing, leveraging additional resources for projects, and collaborating on the design of new program initiatives.
- Working as a member of the Environment and Natural Resources Team on related environmental programs and technical assistance.
Salary Range: commensurate with experience
- BA degree, Master's Degree preferred;
- 3-5 years experience in international development and working in a non-profit organization;
- 3-5 years experience working in the environment sector;
- excellent communication, writing and exposition skills; writing sample required;
- experience developing proposals and budgets;
- attention to detail and ability to work independently within a team environment;
- familiarity with MS Office Suite; and,
- experience in the former Soviet Union; knowledge of Russian language preferred.
