1. Attorney--Central Asia Program Director

The American Bar Association's Central and East European Law Initiative (CEELI) seeks an attorney to coordinate legal reform efforts in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan starting October 1999. Location: Almaty, Kazakhstan, with travel throughout the region. Requires: excellent written/oral communication skills, minimum of 8 years of legal experience, and a 2 year commitment. Prefer: experience living/working in former Soviet Union, familiarity with Soviet legal systems, Russian language skills, and managerial experience. Salary: negotiable. 2. Regional Institution-Building Advisor for the Former Soviet Union

The Central and East European Law Initiative (CEELI), a project of the American Bar Association which provides technical legal assistance in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and the Newly Independent States (NIS), seeks a Regional Institution-Building Advisor to work overseas with CEELI representatives and local law-related NGOs to develop and implement strategies for long-term organizational and financial sustainability. Term: initially 1 year, beginning Fall 1999. Location: Kyiv, Ukraine, but requires significant travel in the region. Must be self-starter with at least 3 years experience working on NGO development in CEE or NIS. Prefer fluency in Russian. Salary: negotiable, based on experience.
