Freedom House, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that promotes democracy and liberty throughout the world, seeks candidates for its American Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program. Through AVID, Freedom House identifies, mobilizes, and sponsors qualified American professionals who volunteer to work side-by-side with their counterparts in Central and Eastern Europe.Volunteers with experience in non-profit management & development, advocacy, fundraising, project design, and public relations are particularly needed. Potential opportunities exist for volunteers with experience in political communication, legislative process, local government administration, public administration, budgeting & finance, and economic development.
In order to participate volunteers must have a minimum of two years relevant professional work experience and commit to 3-12 months of service. Local language skills are helpful, but not required. AVID volunteers receive transportation and basic living expenses. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
